Flight in a Fieseler Storch

Today I had the rare opportunity to take a flight in a restored Fieseler Storch and I am still full of it! We took off at 1.45 at Hangelar in Germany and then flew south along the river Rhine from Bonn to Bad Godesburg. We landed at 14.30. Snow covered Germany was a awesome sight. The sky was gin-clear and we were assisted by a Piper Cub for a short while. It was my first flight in a “warbird”. I hope it wasn’t the last.

You lucky so and so, I can’t think of a better warbird to have a slow flight over snow covered Germany in – lovely clear pictures aswel, well done.

Yeah, couldn’t have done better.

Here are some more pics. It is indeed Bende’s aircraft. And many thanks to him for taking me for the ride:)

Peter

Some guys have all the luck. I’m glad you enjoyed what looks to have been a cracking afternoon out. Even better that you were good enough to share the pics with us. I never get tired of looking at aerial photos.

So, what’s it like flying in a Storch? Also, is that an ex-military Cub?

So this is Dirk Bendes new storch? To fly in a storch is one of my dreams, the most suited aircraft to its role in WW2!
