A fair few of us in this forum have travelled the world recently and have really travelled some miles between us.
Perhaps we could have a flight log book (online) which you sign after every flight and we can see who goes where, who they flew with and scores etc.
I think it would be quite interesting, what does anyone else think?

RE: Flight Log Book?
Well, I’d say no flights earlier than 2000 because as you say, it could go on forever. You’ll probably find you get Orville and Wilbur Wright signing it from the turn of the twentieth century!!

RE: Flight Log Book?
2001 flights – well I suggested (after Mongu had done so) that we start from 2001 else we could have gone on forever. This seems not to have been a popular idea by looking at the entries. Only thing to do is take it to the vote, but to be honest I can’t see everyone replying to the topic so we may have to leave them there!
What does everyone think?

RE: Flight Log Book?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-04-02 AT 08:42Â AM (GMT)]There’s quite a few 2001 flights appeared – what are we going to do with them – can u put a block on all flights BEFORE 2001? – i’m going to submit my 2001 flights – if they get wiped they get wiped!
– btw me and Benair will have the same flight details for 16-12-2001 – it’s not a mistake!

RE: Flight Log Book?
I’ve posted a flight for 29th August 2002 and it is obviously wrong! Can it possibly be altered to 2001 or deletred?

RE: Flight Log Book?
LGKR – Deleted your post.
If you add flights with no Flight number, airline or aircraft it will now show an error. Also if you add a flight under 20 minutes it will show an error. This should now rule out any mis-typed flights.
PS Anyone have any further ideas for the look of the log?

RE: Flight Log Book?
OK I’ve made a few changes:
I have started to log IP addresses, you can view them here:
http://www.plane-mad.com/flightlog/ip.html
If we get more than one IP at the same username then we can see something is wrong.
Also made a few changes to the add page. If you type a flight time above 50 hours it provides an error message and won’t log. If you give a rating above 10 the same happens. Also if there is an empty username, origin, destination it won’t log.
I’ve changed the monster500 dates back to 2002 and deleted T5’s two flights. I’ve also deleted the Kabir 500 hours Delhi Mumbai as this was for May anyway so must have been another dodgy entry.
Everything appears fine now, I’ve tested it a few times and don’t get any problems, let me know if there are any further errors.

RE: Flight Log Book?
I think there is a problem with the log Dan it seems to have a mind of it’s own
i checked my entry years and i did’nt put 2023/24 just by going back to the log page and starting again.
maybe a hacker is the cause?

RE: Flight Log Book?
You have a point, I thought you may still be posting examples. There were also a lot of others that had complete rubbish in them, no username, no dest or origin, so someone is playing around.
I can log IP addresses but I don’t know what this could acheive unless we already know the addresses of everyone else on the forum. As I say, I’m only an amateur at the programing but I’m always up for a challenge! I’ll take a look tomorrow and see what I can do.
Something else I can do is password protect it, and then PM everyone on the board the password, but if the person posting these silly flights is from the board then it won’t stop. Apart from that I don’t know what else can be done, I’ll have a proper look tomorrow, if anyone has other ideas then please let me know.

RE: Flight Log Book?
Dan330 – Haven’t you noticed that there is an awful lot of people posting stupid, unrealistic flights? If Kabir and I had posted these, it is unlikely we would use our own screen names. There is nothing stopping some childish thing pretending to be someone else.
😉 Perhaps the person doing it could stop? Can you log IP addresses of those posting? If you can, it might be wise so you can see where the posts are coming from.

RE: Flight Log Book?
OK a few questions to answer.
Monster500 – Sorry for removing all flights but the ones already entered were really to check that everything was working, most people entered fictional flights and it was easier to start from scratch than have everyone post which were real and which were not. I did ask advice on here a good 8 hours before removing and got 2 replies, could have been waiting ages for everyone to answer.
Your 2023 entries have been changed to 2002.
LGKR – The look can change to anything at all. I wasn’t too worried about how it looked for a start, just wanted to get it working correctly. Don’t know whether you’ve done any HTML but it can be anything thats possible for a web page. You can go as far as designing the page or just making a few sugestions as to how you would like it to look (this goes out to everybody).
T5 – Whats up with your enties? LHR-Tokyo on a Cessna with a rating of 500 odd and I don’t even want to mention the flight time!
Also Kabir, one of your entries says 900 hours, have you entered this wrong or is this a problem with the log.

RE: Flight Log Book?

RE: Flight Log Book?
Hey whats with removing all the flights,I was a fare [aying passenger on all of them otherwise i woould not have submitted them.SO NEXT TIME DO ME THE COURTESY AND ASK FIRST BEFORE YOU DO CRAP LIKE THAT!!!.
By: dan330 - 18th April 2002 at 18:28
RE: Flight Log Book?
The log has now been emptied so any flights you log from now need to be real ones and not examples.
Thats it then, if you get any problems or have any further ideas then just let me know.
PS You can also reach the page from the slightly smaller URL: http://www.plane-mad.com/flightlog

RE: Flight Log Book?
I didn’t actually log a flight for 2005 – I done the others that seem a little more realistic. But starting from scratch seems a litte more reasonable.
