Flight Reports; JMC131K / JMC131L

My two holiday flights this year to Corfu seen me fly G-FCLF (outbound) and G-JMCE (inbound) with JMC Airlines LTD and 2 of their 757-200 aircraft. – an airline that will sadden me when it is nomore 🙁

Anyway, enough doom and gloom. I’ll continue with the report!

JMC131K (G-FCLF) – Newcastle -> Kerkira

Scheduled departure time was 21:10, we arrived at the airport little over 18:30 and checked straight in, being assigned the seats 8A, 8B, 8C, 9A and 9B. Proceeded well through departures, buying in duty free and on being called, made our way to Gate 9. At approximately 21:00 Groundstar Aviation (JMC’s handling agent at EGNT) announced that there was to be a 15 minute to the flight, due to a small scheduled maintenance task. No problem with us, 15 minutes isn’t a big deal!! However, as most of us expected this delay grew – to little under an hour. We took off 55 minutes later, heading south east over the north sea.

The aircraft was fantastic. Lima Foxtrot was the cleanest, most presented aircraft I have ever ahd the pleasure to fly on. Seats were immaculate, carpets all in one piece and the cosmetic walls and ceiling werent stained from tobacco like older 757 examples – pure heaven. Service was excellent, cabin crew friendly and the flight time was just 3 Hours 7 Minutes – alot shorter than 3 Hours 40 like previous years.

OVERALL:
Aircraft: 10/10
Service: 10/10 (Could not be faulted, unlike my last JMC flight)
Punctuality: 9/10

JMC131L (G-JMCE) – Kerkira -> Newcastle

Again, we suffered an hours delay coming home. This however was not JMC’s fault, there were some 8 aircraft on the ground at Corfu (I’m sure their max a/c capacity is only 9 or 10 aircraft) therefore the turnaround times were extended slightly (6 or 7 of these flights would depart every five minutes for half an hour). Done some spotting though, G-OOBA and G-OOBB both 757’s from Air 2000 in new scheme, AMM A320 and A321 in old scheme, A bmi Airbus, G-XLAG of Excel Airways and of-course G-JMCE of JMC airlines which I’d be a passenger on.

At 04:00 local we departed corfu, heading north west over Europe. The service was fantastic, ideally suited to our flight time. Immediately after take-off the cabin crew served drinks, our breakfast and then goods from their skystore all within close proximity of each other. Leaving the PAX a good 2 hours to sleep flying back. This aircraft was also clean, tidy and a pleaseant environment (despite a faulty air con pack which was as loud as the engines) in which to be in (well done JMC). Landed at Newcastle 3Hours 35mins later than we took off, claimed our baggage (we were first to checkin to last to get backs ) and went home, some 12 miles from EGNT.

OVERALL:
Aircraft: 8/10 (faulty air con)
Service: 10/10
Punctuality: 8/10 (another delay)

Thats it fokes! Would just like to say – why pick on JMC guys??? oh and, my one and only gripe with JMC are their seats. Not the legroom, seats! They have a terribly uncomfortable headrest device on each of them and they really hurt your neck!!!

Good report LGKR. Reminds me of the days when I used to work on the JMC 757s at EGNT.

Regards

Ben
