What is the best PC set up to make Flight Sim 2002 run in the best possible way? I don’t know much about computers other than where to switch them on. But my lowly 16mb graphics card and Pentium III processor don’t seem to be giving me much enjoyment out of the game.
I’d like to be able to turn all the detail levels up and fly over some of the detailed cities without stalling the game, let alone the Cessna ?
I bought my PC nearly 3 years ago, but made sure it had room for expansion, new cards etc. What would you recommend ?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Flight Sim 2002
www.vatsim.net is the site- VATSIM is the world largest online flightsim community which at peak times can offer over 600 pilots/atc and staff online at once – the uk is one of the busier areas along with the US – At present i am flying EGNM-GCTS and there are 314 online – usually a bit lower in the daytime – theres a page that allows you to apply for an ID – it’s usually no problem to apply

RE: Flight Sim 2002
OK OK Children!! – there’s a fierce rivalry between them all – SOFTLAD the reason u weren’t accepted according to the boss is that you dont have a valid VATSIM account, which is a part of our terms and conditions – the idea is to be as real world as possable and flying on VATSIM with RW atc is an integral part of our operations – just to clarift things!!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-11-02 AT 09:38 PM (GMT)]LGKR doesnt like my VA but i have over 50 people who say it is good! Check his site 90% of pages arnt working mine are.
I dont want to turn this into a slagging match. I must be missing something I dont see any small print on freebies and I made the site!

RE: Flight Sim 2002
Well SOFTLAD, gill-airways-virtual dont exactly have a good reputation and if you do join them, check the small print rgarding to so-called “free items that no other VA’s offer”.
Unlike them, Air Newcastle offer a community of virtual pilots.

LGKR

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-11-02 AT 11:28 PM (GMT)]My System:
AMD Athlon XP 1.7Ghz
256MB RAM
Win XP
CH Products Yoke and Pedals (www.chproducts.com)
Two Monitors :):) as then i can run more complexed panels with certain add-ons
I get 50-60fps which is very good!
If you want to experience the realism of an airline join Gill Airways Virtual. We also offer freebies to pilots which other VA’s dont! Includign CD-ROms and email addresses!

RE: Flight Sim 2002
yeh my system has more-aless the same specs – find it hard to get alot out of FS2002, especially when im flying online with 3 or 4 applications running at the same time!
i ditto EGNM’s comments on joining a virtual airline – its a great way to add realism to your flightsim flying.
*not a plug 😉 but…
please do visit my airline, Air Newcastle, which is incidently based at EGNT. We operate 2 CRJ200’s on flights to Aberdeen, Belfast City, Bristol and London Gatwick. We are jsut completing opening preparations but i assure you, we will be worth it!
Cheers,
LGKR

RE: Flight Sim 2002
hi there,
well i only use a 128mg RAM celeron processor and i love it!! – hows about joining our VA to have a look at Real World operations from Leeds/Bradford, we’re not a run of the mill start up one min, shut down 3 days latert with crappy attempts at scheds, we only run rw with an online training division and accurate flight plans for all our scheduled routes, with charter runs to start soon! – give us a look at www.whiteroseva.com – and i’m CSO and Hub Manager so thats even more so!!
