RE: Flight sims come of age.
IL-2 certainly is the most impressive sim around at the moment, of the WWII era anyway (still a fan of falcon 4). Not just graphically but the the flight models in IL-2 are pretty impressive.
Still have the occasional dog fight in Combat Flight Sim 2 which is great for the variety of aircraft available. Just bought the Mosquito add-on from Key Publishing’s shop, cant wait to chuck the ‘Wooden Wonder’ around! I’ll post some pics when it arrives.

RE: Computer specs…
For those of you with less horsepower, can i recommend European Air War from Microprose? Incredible detail, and in the budget bin now, at most software shops, but better than CFS II for my money. Just type Cord+EAW in google, to go to the best resource site on the net for support………

Computer specs…
..and several thousand dollars..ok I know what I am looking for then. IL-2 reminds me, looking at the screen shots, a lot of Janes WW2 Fighters, in thats visually is very impressive, although IL-2 obviously takes the detail and realism to the next level. Can’t wait to play it. 🙂

RE: Flight sims come of age.
I still love the old ‘Fighter Squadron’ flight sim-true it’s a bit light on plane content straight out of the box, but with all the online add-ons I now happily fly all sorts of missions in extremely realistic Spits, Hurricanes, Lancs, Beaufighters, Mossies, Defiants, Stirlings, Typhoons…etc etc etc etc etc!!!! Bloody great game.

RE: Flight sims come of age.
I would suggest you have at least 1.5ghz with 512mb ram and 32mb graphics card, good soundcard would be an advantage too.
I have 1.9ghz, 512mb ram, 64mb graphics card, Soundblaster Surround Sound.
I can run the game on maximum settings.
Features include;
Accurate tracer smoke, cannon shudder, flack, full 3d vitual cockpit, aircraft such as the 190, 109, 262, B1, Il2, see
Spitfires promised for addons.

RE: Flight sims come of age.
I have MS combat flight simulator(1) which is pretty good but that looks awesome. What sort of spec do you need to run it like that.
Can you add palnes scenery etc to it like CFS?
