Looking around this forum, I can’t see that anyone has mentioned civil flight sims.
I’m a regular ‘virtual flyer’ and I used to be a regular user of Microsoft Flight Sim ’98, with several add ons. Trouble is, FS’98 has several bugs in and some of the scenery is well, frankly, awful.
These days, I prefer Flight Unlimited III. Although the downside to this excellent piece of software is that you cannot fly the ‘heavies’. Apart from that, it is very realistic and good fun.
The reason I play these sims is because of my interest in civil aircraft, but does anyone else reading this use these packages? I would be very interested to hear what peoples thoughts are on this.

RE: Flight Simulations
Hi there,
If you want a real simulation on your desktop get…
Fly! or Fly! 2K at www.iflytri.com
I would recommend one of PMDG’s aircraft to go with that, get the 777, it’s superb, at…
Also for downlaods for your Flightsim goto,

Same for me, except that I like military flight sims.
I’m waiting for the 2.5 upgrade! (Inflight refuelling, Mig29K, …)

RE: Flight Simulations
Flanker 2.0? Bloody excellent flight sim. I bought it about six months ago and it is a masterpiece. Difficult to get into, but ultra realistic. I’m not usually one for playing combat flight sims, but the main reason I bought it was because the SU-27 and it’s family are my favourite military aircraft.

RE: Flight Simulations
Airline Simulator 2 is an excellent package, but it retailed at £99.99. Rather expensive for most I would have thought, but such is the price you pay for software of such quality.

RE: Flight Simulations
My favourite “modern” sim is FLY! It’s great. Best panels around.Probably best graphics too, but it needs a very fast machine & plenty of RAM to fly smoothly AND have good graphics at the same time. I also have FS ’98 at the office, but I’m not really keen on it. It’s OK for a quick “fix” (a couple of circuits of Meigs) while I eat my lunch, but nothing more involved than that.
My all-time favourite sim still has to be old SubLogic’s ATP, ‘tho. Does anybody have any experience with ATP’s modern incarnation, AIRLINE SIMULATOR 2 ?? I believe it’s meant to be very good to fly, even if the graphics are very old fashioned.

I really enjoy flight simulators aswell.
At the moment I have Flight Simulator 2000. (prof. edition)
but it is causing me a lot of problems, hopefully these will
be sorted out, it’s taken nearly a year.
