Just bear in mind that the times you want/need to travel are peak travelling times, and seeing as CityJet (VLM) are the only airline to fly direct, and it being from LCY, it probably won’t be all that cheap…but seeing as its for work purposes, is cost necessarily a factor?
Yes, I’d be paying! But I would probably avoid Peak times, such as very late Sunday night to get there and mid-day Friday return.
I’ve been in deep research mode……
Notwithstanding the travel for the first 5 / 6 months, I am realising the job vacancy isn’t paying enough anyway. My apparent 25% rise in salary would be quickly wasted on the higher cost of living in Holland or Belgium. I cannot believe the prices there, when I consider we live in “Rip-off Britain”. Everything you need is more expensive, stuff you don’t need (Fags and Booze) is cheaper. And, the anti-car brigade have really got a hold over there, tax is outrageously high, especially if you like the V8’s or V12’s like me.
So, if I get to 2nd interview, I’ll make it clear that several thousand more Euro’s are needed.

It’s nowt to do with tourism. Work.
The Flight would be Monday morn. early and Friday teatime back to UK. Job is nearer Rotty than Amster.
But the trains over there run to the second, that seems a good option.
Thanks

Your only option is Cityjet to London City (with KLM codesharing). They have several flights per workday, but during the weekend there are not that many flights.
Another option is flying to Amsterdam-Schiphol. There is a direct train service linking Schiphol with Rotterdam Centraal train station. Normal train services take 49 minutes, but the high-speed FYRA option takes 26 minutes but costs a premium.
As for Rotterdam the city, it’s not the first option that would jump into my mind when thinking of touristic Netherlands. Neither is it the second, or the third, or anywhere in my ranking really! The city center was bombed into oblivion courtesy of Hermann Goering Redecorating Inc. Of course, since so much was bombed, if you are into modern architecture this place can be interesting.
It also has the second biggest port in the world, so if you’re interested in shipping Rotterdam should be good to you.
There’s a complete public transport route planner at http://journeyplanner.9292.nl/. This site combines the schedules for all modes of public transport in the Netherlands.

Who wants to go to Rotterdam anyway unless they live there and are returning home? I jest of course, I haven’t seen much of the city but from the little I have seen it seems a reasonably OK place. Not that this ramble is of any use whatsoever.
