one thing i have noticed with the spreading of alliances is the spreading of flightnumbers. I mean, look at the ceefax/teletext pages of any airport and over half the flight numbers are doubles. Its really annoying to have to go through 15 pages with flight numbers when there are only enough flights for 3 or 4 pages.
Is it not possible, and far easier, to introduce a special “alliance” flightnumber? For instance:
KL001 could become ST-KL001
BA001 could become OW-BA001
BD001 could become SA-BD001
etc.
Sure there would be one or more digits to the flight number (depending on how it is organized) but it will make those flight schedules far more easier to go through.
Or perhaps keep 2 flight codes, the normal code for the operating company and another flight code that the other members of the alliance use.

I agree with what you’re saying, but what you’ve said above isn’t strictly true. When I flew Thai Airways in July and when I fly with them again in 3 and a half weeks, the flights are operated by Thai, but codeshare with United Airlines and Air Canada. That’s only 3 airlines? So it’s not so bad after all.

Got to agree Tenth, Really annoying looking through the likes of LGW and MAN arrivals and seeing the same things over again. I think your suggestion (eg ST KL 101) is a very good idea. But knowing the aviation industry they wont take any notice

It might go:
One World followed by the airline then airline flight number. e.g.
OW BA-5481 to the destination.

that is what i mean. Look at for instance AMS website. There is a list with 4 or 5 flights going to New York all supposedly by another airline. All of them are done by the same airline under the Star Alliance brand. Is it not easier to get one star alliance number instead of 4 or 5 individual airline numbers?
(destination is ficticuous, but you’ll get the idea)

I have read your post . i dont get the whole thing . It might be a codesharing agreement
