I have been to Florida three time over the past six years and can’t wait to go back. You just can’t get a better holiday!
During my visits I have seen the space shuttle lift off, taken an aerobatic ride in a T5 texan with warbird adventures which was fantastic. Lovely sunshine, great people who make you feel so welcome and I agree that a villa is the way to go!
No wonder the Americans are so proud of there country.
Best regards,
Jimbo

There are places other than Florida that I like to be. All that focus on that flaming mouse irritates me no end. That said I quite enjoy the St. Augustine area. Castillo de San Marcos, Flagler beach, Daytona International Speedway( oorah ). The Everglades are always a kick. I like to take a ride with Coopertown airboats when I’m in the area. On the gulf coast the National Museum of Naval Aviation aboard Pensacola naval air station is a must. You can’t do it all in a day so take two. While your there make time to go visit the USS Alabama in Mobile and the U.S. Air Force armaments museum at Eglin AFB. Is that enough of my favorite places in Florida or what? 😀 😀

T5 I feel moraly abliged to offer my apologies, thats the first time I have ever heard someone say they didn’t like Florida, for a real Florida experience don’t stay in a hotel, theyre over priced and quite plain and of course as with most things in the US it’s miles from anywhere. Florida is somewhere for brochure shoppers who want everything inc. in the price and someone to hold their hand.
But the real Florida experience is to stay in a villa of course, and you must have a hire car. If you want to laze around all dayyyyyyyyyyyyy by the pool then go to spain.
Alot has changed in Florida, new malls, new theme parks for a more varied of ages and more hotels, restaurants etc.
How can we go shopping in little malls and only have one world rating theme park even be the same as Florida?
If you like to laze around for your holiday then go ahead, you’ve earnt it, but if thats your plan then don’t pay a high price for a holiday of just sitting around.

I visited Florida in 1984 or thereabouts.
I had mixed impressions. I hated Miami International Airport and its interminable queues, loved the quiet residential area around Pompano Beach where our borrowed house was situated.
Loved cruising along listening to US radio stations, just like on the movies, but driven mad by a 55 mph speed limit – what a crawl.
The people we met were almost universally friendly and a delight to talk to. Lots of retirees with time to spare and yarns about their time over in the UK.
Loved some of the tex-mex fast food.
But then we drove down the Keys as far as Key West 🙂
I’d go back again anytime. What a truly great place to be. Others have flown down there. I haven’t as I didn’t have my licence at the time. But if you’ve never been, you have to go. Standing on the pier at Mallory watching the sun sink into the Caribbean has to be one of life’s great experiences.

My experience of Florida, or more my opinion of Florida is that it is incredibly boring. But don’t get me wrong, it’s ideal for families with younger children as there’s a great deal to do.
My idea of a holiday is a hotel with’s own pool, with it’s own private beach. An active holiday where you go to theme parks and go shopping (like you would normally do at home) is crazy. I like to relax for 2 or 3 weeks and watch the world slowly go by.
