Florida trip!

I’m probably going to Florida in the summer for 11 or 12 days. The cheapest I found so far is flying from Brussels to JFK, from there To Orlando. Then I want to hire a car and visit a lot of points of interest and continue south untill Key west. From there I can take a CRJ700 from Delta connection to Atlanta, then to JFK and then back to Brussels. The return flight could have been EYW-ATL-BRU but that was more expensive.
YES, Key west has an airport and YES it can handle a CRJ.
I would like to go somewhere in July for 11 or 12 days like I already said. Delta looks the chepest so far with 700 EUR per person.
Don’t post LHR-MIA stuff or so here, if you want to help then give a COMPLETE itinerary. If I can do it for 600 EUR per person to and from Miami that would be okay. BELOW 700 EUR per person and THANK YOU;). I heard some bad stories aboud lost baggage by connecting trough JFK, does someone have experiences with connecting flights trough the US?

I only book on airline websites. I wanted to go with Iberia departing the 30th of July, but that’s my last day at school and there is a risk of not making it etc. Anyway, it was €500 each.
I’m only booking probably over one month.
The money is not really a big deal, but at least arrive in orlando and depart in miami; the best would be arrive in orlando and depart in key west. This also saves time (thus hotel money and car hire), and then we have to drive less.
Still, there is no airline that offers such a good connection with key west, only Delta? Others are more expensive.

It surprised me that a CRJ700 can take off from 1450 meters!

ok, Jean, I’ve had a wee look on Opodo for you…

, if you want to help then give a COMPLETE itinerary. If I can do it for 600 EUR per person to and from Miami that would be okay. BELOW 700 EUR per person and THANK YOU

If you don’t mind really bad times, you can Iberia from BRU to Miami via Madrid for 655Euros per person (including tax)… the drawback is the flight dosen’t arrive in Miami till 10:05pm, and the return is at 00:25…

BA from BRU to Miami via Heathrow are at more sociable times (two flights a day) and cost 662Euros (including tax)

Dates I used were outbound 12 July, returning 23 July.

No, you don’t need to stand in line again. Typically, upon exiting customs at a U.S. airport, there will immediately be an interline baggage belt nearby along with some baggage handlers to assist you. You simply put your bags on this belt and away you go. If you didn’t receive boarding passes for your connecting flight at your originating airport, then there is a customer service desk at the interline belt where they can take care of that for you. If you already have your boarding pass, put your bags on the belt, then go through security and go to the gate. Doesn’t take long at all (unless the security personel is working as ‘efficiently’ as they do at LHR, in which case, it could take longer).

My father has been connecting through JFK for 35 years. Originally on TWA and most recently with Delta. He’s never once had his luggage lost. The thing about JFK along with most U.S. airports, is that when arriving on an Intl flight, you must first clear U.S. customs before continuing on to your final destination. To do so, you must obviously claim your luggage, go through customs and immigration, and then re-check them in (this is done by simply putting them on an interline belt youself, it’s no hassel). To my knowledge, this is done everywhere in the U.S., except maybe NZ1/2 which has a stopover in LAX from AKL to LHR. At any rate, there shouldn’t be any problems connecting through JFK.
