Interesting update on the Flugwerk site:
The FW190 is apparently ready to fly and just awaiting a permit. When the 190 project is complete, they are proposing to start building 109Fs, with new DB601s.

Do the other countries avaition authorities have the same requirements as our CAA?,if so then the “new build “aircraft have no market to be sold into, how about the FAA?
Surely Flugwerk and any others must’ve looked into this before investing in a alot of time and money, did’nt they:confused:

Mark12 has hit the nail on the head. Same reasoning behind no Me262 as well.

Can you wonder that they get called Campaign Against Aviation?

I suspect traceability at the cheap labour labour source in the former Eastern Bloc was part of the concern.
As mentioned the engines were a new source rather than newly manufactured items.
Knowing the problems to produce from available parts the engines for the two Craig Charleston 109 Emils, I suspect it was a case of ‘we have these engines, what can we do with them, how about 109Fs?’.

I wonder if the new ‘Euro’ regulations will cover new build warbirds? I think the JAA (now a different name) rules were supposed to mean that certification by one member state was accepted by them all.

Yes I wondered what the problem is with these… as these are up-front ‘new builds’ rather than ‘restorations’ I’d have thourght that the CAA would’ve been happier as with the certification process, history etc… wouldn’t a ‘new build’ warbird have to be constructed to the same regulations as a new light aircraft, or perhaps more relevantly a ‘homebuild’ ?? I’m no expert in this, just trying to read between the lines…
