My newspaper reports that the long arm of the EU is being inserted into our lavatory bowls. My particular bowl is of fairly recent vintage and the syphon is already equipped to deal with two stage flushing.
The EU are proposing to standardise the amount of water used across the EU to flush the standard EU turd. They are proposing to define and limit the amount of water used in both stages of the two stage flush. The limits aren’t finalised – apparently, but they are intended to be around three liters for the first stage small turd flush and six liters (which seems to me quite generous) for the largest turds.
At this early stage of the proceedings the EU have not defined acceptable sizes of turds to enable inclusion into law. Perhaps Forum members could assist in establishing dimensions ?
There has, to my knowledge, been little reference to that other vital ingredient – urine. Reading between the lines, I think that urine disposal will be dealt with during the first stage three liter flush for processing small turds. If nothing else it adds new meaning to the euphemism: “Taking the ****”.
I’m just wondering if Brussels has too much time on its hands. I apologise to members who have refined tastes.

Like the report Chas, Once read, you can always hang it on the nail in the Bog,(As we did many, many yrs ago) and wipe your 6 on it after one has had a “Dump”.

In keeping with the usual standard from the thread starter, this isn’t strictly correct (quelle surprise). What the EU have done is define a standard that allows manufacturers to claim that their flush is eco-friendly – much the same as washing machines and dishwashers.
A Google search reveals the 6 litre maximum was introduced in 2001 in the UK (not EU, UK) as part of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 act.
All in all, a singularly appropriate thread from this OP.

A classic!!:highly_amused: If anything illustrates the utter pointlessness of that dreadful institution, this does. And to answer your specific and very pertinent question I suppose each of the Councillors’ stools will be measured after a typical defecation and the average size will in fact become the Euroturd.
