Yeah OK, I know they are a low cost carrier now, ( Or they like to think they are ), but I still don’t class them as the same sort of airline as Ryanair or MyTravel Lite.

Shamrock, no airline will go against Ryanair on the DUB route, they have a monopoly. The only exception I can think of is MyTravel Lite from BHX, and from what I can gather, before Ryanair got rid of most flights out of BHX that was failing, but is now doing OK, with fewer RYR flights in there.

and Aer Lingus! 🙂

Fly be are soon to be getting A319s, will these be used on the new base?

Easy now, they’ve not even ordered them!
If they do get them they are for their ‘Scottish expansion’ that they have promised, and I much look forward to!

They could, as they do it at Exeter and somewhere else too. But then again, I would have some doubts as Ryanair are doing very well on their services, fully booked most of the time.

I’m really pleased that flybe have reinstated themselves here, I just hope it lasts.

I would think it will last, providing they dont get in the way of EZY. There clearly is demand for flights to the south, hence the success of the EZY NCL-BRS flights, and Air Wales to Plymouth via Cardiff must be doing OK as they would have puled it by now if it wasnt.
Southampton and Exeter will be a success, if the market is similar to that of BRS, but I’m not sure how the Eastern NCL-SOU service will be affected.
The best way to expand, especially in the case of LCCs is to experiment with new routes, like EZY did with Prague, Barcelona etc. and like HLX did with Hanover.
If flybe take the risk, and offer more European flights from NCL, I think they have got a good chance of working.

I think it’s good that flybe have reconsidered their base at Newcastle and new routes and all that, but the only reason that flybe are coming back to base at Newcastle is because of the success of easyJet and the unexpectancy of low cost services. I’m really pleased that flybe have reinstated themselves here, I just hope it lasts. Yes it is Good news for Newcastle! They’ll really have to get on with the expansion of the apron and the runway and stands and all. Woo Hoo!

Lets hope EasyJet and FlyBe complement each other, and fly different ones, and that one doesen’t get rid of the other.

Good news for Newcastle.
