FlyBe from Liverpool

flybe will begin services between Liverpool and Jersey next year starting 05 Feb 05. British Midland used to fly scheduled on this route but cut it back then dropped it, this was then followed by Air Corbiere using a Metroliner, recent years only charters (including VLM operating one this year) have operated, generally at weekends. The flybe service will be a welcome addition to Liverpool Airport’s network.

What a load of tripe! That is the worst justification for charging passengers over a quid for a cup of dishwater I have ever heard!

Mmitch- i tackled flybe. management on this very issue – free tea and coffee – as initially they did offer it. Their response was that passengers preferred to have to pay for everything as this reduced the complexity and saved embarrassment of having a free cuppa and then requesting other items and having to pay. Their words not mine.

Personally I think Flybe have got it wrong.

I understand where they are coming from, but if they served complimentary tea/coffee/water it would provoke pax into paying for a snack to go with their drink.

I doubt that tea/coffee would cost very much; it’s more the food that adds up in cost terms.

I also think that another way of paying for inflight service must be found. Scrambling for coins in steerage seats is not much fun and is the main reason I don’t normally buy anything. I’d suggest a system like at hotels, where your credit card is swiped by reception before you check in.

Im not on you back, Im just providing explanation to prove my point on the ridiculous statements you like to make.

I thought you were prepared to pay very high fares for a sarnie and a coffee on a 1hr flight by the way?

BMI is a quality airline but they do charge high prices from LBA. I travel to Jersey with them sometimes and they sure arent cheap!

People WANT to fly for next to nothing and thats why these airlines always make money.

And mate, dont start making comments, Yeadon is not a joke, pax numbers on course to be the highest ever, and your always say you like BMi and like to fly with them, so why are you moaning about them? They do NOT have a fares monopoly, Jet2 are challenging them very hard. New routes CDG and LCY starting soon from LBA.

And what the hell has LBA got to do with this thread?

I wouldnt want anything to do with a low-cost airline and I dont say that eliminating food and drink doesnt help profitability but just that I would rather they gave a good service instaead of trying to fly everyone for next to nothing.

Also Yeadon is a joke, with that runway at high altitude and extortionate BMI fares monopoly!

I know nothing, but i am prepared to admit that.

You think you know everything telling airlines to give free stuff away here there and everywhere, id like to see how long your low cost airline lasted…..

I know about as much as you probably do! Who the eck (Good Yorshire word for you LBA) are you Sir Freddie Laker.

I dont like Flybe. I did however, like Jersey European who were a quality airline offering good connections from various departure points to my favourite place in the whole world, ickle Jersey!

Message For DanAirBoy – Stop moaning, and as Mark says, FlyBe have done really well and what the hell do you know about airline management?

And for gods sake, FlyBe flights normally last about 1-2 hours even less, cant you survive that long without coffee or a sarnie?

Message for danairboy;

Since Jim French turned Jersey European into flybe he has turned a consistently loss-making airline into a profitable one, done away with meals and tea and coffee, competed sucessfully with Ryanair and kept over 1500 people in gainful employment.

A message for Jim French and FlyBe. Go back to calling your airline Jersey European, re-introduce meals and complimentary tea/coffee and stop trying to compete with the likes of Ryanair.

Love your Q400s though Mr French, they are gorgeous!

Would be good to see an order by BE, cos i’m not sure how they’d be able to cope with all this expation with the aircraft they have got

I read in a magazine last week that for Summer 2005, flybe´s expansion plans will see expansion at Aberdeen, Manchester and Norwich. I´m surprised a Liverpool route is on the cards but I supposse a LPL – JER route would be a success.

It would be nice to see if flybe do develop Norwich as one of their new bases.

Interesting!

Flybe fly IOM-JER but there is a stop en-route in LCY. It can also be pricey.

The connection IOM-LPL is fairly cheap with Emerald (I got a ticket for £37 rtn incl tax recently).

IOM-LPL; LPL-JER could be a cheaper alternative perhaps?

Mmm, i thought JER-MAN was on the cards, rather than LPL. Also GCI and BHD were supposed to be announced! No sign of them yet.
BA and VLm do the summer charters from LPL to JER atm

Interesting move, considering they’re also launching a Southampton-Manchester route.
