Flybe Getting Bigger/BA Getting Smaller

Hi guys,

While I was flying today I had a rather interesting conversation with the FO. Not sure how much truth there is in it but not content with getting rid of their regional operations, BA is now looking to get rid of some of its short haul routes and aircraft maybe to Flybe!

Maybe a chance of seeing 737’s back in Flybe colours along with the A319?

For a long time now the plan for the BA shorthaul fleet has been to go all Airbus, with the gradual phase out of the 737’s and the eventual disposal of the 757’s and 767’s planned as the Airbus fleet grows. Where they go depends on who wants to take them.

As at most airlines, routes are forever being tweeked and changed depending on demand, yield, economy, poilitics, etc, etc, etc.

Maybe a chance of seeing 737’s back in Flybe colours along with the A319?

Flybe are doing so well with the current business model I can’t see a change from Q400 and EMB190 unless they have serious change of direction.

Another rumor that I heard was that BA were getting back 2 A320s back from Easyjet

That’s no rumour. G-TTOB due in service 01 Mar and G-TTOE due in service 01 May

Thats the point though, how much do BA really care about their shuttle flights? Not much at all is the answer. First sign of trouble or bad weather at Heathrow and the shuttle flights are all first to be axed! It should be London Airways because they don’t care for the rest of Britain!

I’d welcome flybe with open arms!

BA have allready started to get rid of their 737-500s and 400s back to lessor and have sold all of thier 757 to a unnamed buyer so we wont see those in Flybee colours
Another rumor that I heard was that BA were getting back 2 A320s back from Easyjet , why would they do that if they were about to drop routes and I cant see them allowing flybee to cover the shuttle flights

Never rule anything out in aviation but there’s more chance of Genghis Khan popping in for Sunday lunch than Flybe operating 737s again. (did I just contradict myself there?)
