Tom, BY738 has the answer re ABZ.

RYR 738s can fly out of ABZ happily presently, but as long as it’s to DUB (& soon LPL) & they are not filled so that they can take off from the runway!
Any destinations further away, they would need a longer runway.Hopefully that will be addressed by the time Oct comes around when LPL starts. RYR engines on their 738s are not as powerful as, say BAL (as was). Can recall BAL 738s flying to IBZ from ABZ non-stop.

Similarly, GSM 736s engines will not be powerful enough to take off from ABZ on its current runway length with a full load & fly to the destinations they want to (which I assume would be “bucket & spade” flights). Hence no announcements & no flights for 2006.

Daily EDI-ALC and AGP go on sale tomorrow. Looks like a W pattern with GLA aircraft.

But howcome Flymonarch manage to fly to Malaga direct fine, with no stops?.

A320’s have better range/ take off profile over 737’s

Afterall, its only European (excluding Florida) destinations that Globespan fly to anyway.

FlyGlobespan will also operate to Cape Town. ( not that they would have any intentions of flying to CPT from ABZ)

Fly Globespan to operate Liverpool-Tenerife daily. I wonder how this will effect the Charters from Liverpool to Tenerife.

Also this dose give Jet2 a bit off a serious compertition on its newly announced Blackpool – Tenerife twice weekly service. Blackpool have already lost it’s weekly Charter flights that were to be operated by Air Europa for Thomson Holidays.

Good to see that there expanding into a new airport, however there is still no news on when they are commencing operations from Aberdeen (ABZ) which they said they definately wanted to.

Looking at the timings for LPL-TFS it looks like it is a ‘W’ pattern, so could we see more routes from LPL?

I think you are getting confused, it’s not a W pattern, the timings look like a based aircraft. I’d say it’s very likely another route will be announced as TFS doesn’t leave till midday. Possibly EDI/GLA maybe even STN.
