In the online EGI Planning & Surveying journal dated 22/8/03, has a brief article about Flying A Services winning a tender to buy the last 74 acres of Greenham Common.
The area of land includes 6 missile silos, 5 underground bunkers, underground garages and 2 sheds, with a total of 75000 sq ft.
This is apparently the last land to be sold at Greenham. I thought Greenham had been turned into nature area & bussiness parks, but obviously not!
It mention Flying A having a Spitfire & Hurricane? I know them as having a Wilcat & bearcat – whatelse have they? Which Hurricane is it?

Flying A Services’ Hurricane?
Having tried for the past 5-6 years to keep track of all known Hurricane survivors – including stored future restoration projects – I’m intrigued by this one. If its true, it would seem to be one that is not commonly known and so I would certainly like to know the identity of the aircraft concerned – can anyone say more?

Well done Flying A, that will keep the experts guessing for years, sounds an ideal place to store and restore warbirds without the world and their wife watching 😀

Two of the WoGB/Flying A Services warbirds have been made available for sale through Courtesy Aircraft Sales of the USA.
The two warbirds, a P51D and Wildcat have been listed on the site for some time.

Other chaps on the list will know more, I’m sure, but Flying A Services have the remains of the Doug Arnold/Warbirds of Great Britain collection – at the time of Doug’s death in ’92, he had two airworthy Spits (MkIX NH238 and XVIII SM969), but I dunno about a Hurricane.
that’s about as much as I know on the subject!
