”Mummy Mummy, why has Arthur’s Piper Cub got funny black tape over its elevator and rudder trailing edges ? ”

Well, once upon a time, nameless restorer was busily fabricing the tail feathers of the Cub, and carefully included the drain holes at the very rear edge. Come the day of fittting ‘Oh cr@p!’ the holes, wot should be underneath woz on the top, plain for all to see ( and snigger at ) . A quick application of black tape cover up the offending appetures , but that looked a bit odd, so more tape was stuck to the rudder, as a sort of style statement. Sorted.

Thanks for the reminder on this, just watched it on More 4.
As others have said, a very good programme.

What staggered me was the 10×8 photo of ‘Big Ben’ where you could see the time.

It was taken from a Photo Recce Canberra….flying over the Isle of Wight.

That was good. You should see what a Sentinel R1 can do if you think that’s impressive!

I thoroughly enjoyed the programme. Have got it on record just so I do not miss anything. The Big Ben section was eye opening for us.

Yes and a Stinson Reliant landing in the background at one point.

Yes, a super little programme. Makes a change from the usual formulaic dross.

It certainly made a very pleasant change from “Countryfile” at that time of a Sunday evening. Let’s hope it gets through to the general public and encourages some new enthusiasts.
