Flying Boat remains found near Plymouth.

Whilst walking near Plymouth a couple of weeks back I came across the following parts which appear to be from a metal-hulled flying boat.

Perhaps any experts out there may wish to comment?

Map reference is SX 502 528. On the edge of Hooe lake.

Last photo is an Aztec (I think) fuselage on top of a building at the top of the high street in Totnes. Reggie is G-ATOA and was bought off of e-Bay. It is for sale, anyone interested PM me for contact details.

Further investigations?

I hope, and presume, that the recent nonsense on this thread has not put anyone off taking a further look at these remains.

I would have thought that we had a good half-dozen Forum members within 30 minutes of Plymouth, any of whom would be able to go to the site and carry out some further investigations.

Judging by the number of views of this thread (thousands), there are quite a few people out there (not least Myself) who would like to know more and put this one to rest one way or the other.

OK…so if Me109-E isn’t going to post the Flying Boat pics then maybe FighterAce can be persuaded to post the Heinkel pictures instead?;)

Apology

I have received an apology from Me-109E for his unwarranted and unpleasant PM and I have accepted it. It’s just a pity that things blew up like they did.

Anyway, back to the subject matter: Myself and others would like to see Me-109E’s photo’s to see if they shed any light on the possibility of these remnants being from an old flying boat. I am just as interested as anyone (in fact probably more so) to see if, in these days of “if only” and, “where have all the aeroplanes gone” that a chunk of aviation history has been found lying in the South Devon mud.

We don’t seem to have had any so-called experts on to give their two-penn’orth yet. It is though, without a doubt, a site which requires a little field work before any conclusions can be drawn.

Is there any chance of this getting back on topic as I, for one, am interested in these potential relics?

I was looking up some structural details on small flying boats to compare and am still interested in any further details anybody can share.

Or are we too far off topic now?

Due to some stupid petty squabbling & comments the rest of us are being denied the chance of seing the closer shots. Get a grip folks.

Can the new photos be shared please?

Maybe I should look at it another way, then, and simply empty my inbox and enjoy those few rambling, offensive and irrational messages that drop out of the ether from a certain quarter. With each one I could notch up another swastika on my tally board! :diablo: I never respond, anyway, and so that probably adds fuel to the fire.

Wyvern Fan….au contraire. I will empty my inbox shortly. Just for you. 🙂

Or maybe post them on here, and we can all have a larf !

Andy,

I’ve asked about blocking PM ‘spammers’ in the past but there isn’t a way to block offenders except if you add them to your Ignore List which means you also don’t get to see the juicy, irrational and sometimes bizarre statements they make on a public worldwide forum, as the system blocks all posts, PM’s etc… by them.

I have had some unpleasant ones, too. Not this time. My inbox is full. Deliberately. I cannot see there is a way, unfortunately, to block incoming from certain individuals. Unless someone can enlighten me?

Reaction

Me 109 E,

I am sorry if I have caused you some offence but I think your reaction has been totally over the top.

Not only that, the nasty PM you sent me is too, and I could not reply to it because your mail box is conveniently full.

I think we had just better stick to the subject matter from now on and not venture into any light-heartedness.

A bit of rib-tickling and winding up is often a part of contributing to this forum. If you want to have a go at anyone then don’t just single me out. You will know that this particular wind-up has been prevalent on many of the recent threads and is a general dig at those who try to falsify aircraft remains to be something which they are not – and not you in particular.

If you have a reason to be so sensitive about this particular subject matter then please explain and I will try and understand, and, if necessary, offer you a proper apology. However, if you have had a sense-of-humour lapse or a lack of understanding then that is your fault, not mine.

Oh so original!

In fact forget it

I took some detailed pictures today of markings I found on the sections of the said sections in the mud

I WILL NOT be posting the pics now

I’ve not said a word and I would be interested in seeing your pictures.

Regards,
