Flying historic aircraft(how much Longer?)

with the tragedy of the crash at shoreham today how much longer can we expect to enjoy watching these marvellous historic aircraft performing at airshows before insurance companies decide enough is enough and refuse to insure these machines considering it too large a risk? it also beggars the question once aircraft are restored is it not more sensible to just fast taxi the aircraft as opposed to flying them ,therby ensuring these aircraft are seen to last, plus we do not have the appalling loss of life, one appreciates than the unexpected can happen, but i suspect at some point someone is going to call a halt.

This is an important debate, but not now please. I suggest we open the debate after the conclusion of the flying season.

Instead of jumping on a bandwagon with this idea why not just do a search? it’s been debated countles times without solving anything.

And your timing really isn’t very good.

Stuff this, today I among many others here lost a friend, now the forum reaches tabloid level.
Oh and for information to fast taxi a tailwheel Warbird is also not a great idea and a number have been wrecked doing just that.

Bad taste maybe, but considering 3 crashes at Reno this weekend too one do wonder. But,that’s for another day. This have been a terrible year for aviation in general. 🙁

Its not the time or place for such a debate to be held yet, Please spare a thought for the family of the pilot who perished today.

A good topic for debate, and one which will be put to a discussion. However, given the current circumstances, today (as already stated) probably isn’t the best day to discuss this.
