Flying Legends for me is the one weekend on the Calendar I always book time off for. It is a special show for many reasons, which I have stated during previous reviews. Flying Legends 2012 proved to be no different. There were plenty of surprises, interesting formations and of course wonderful company. I have read several reviews of the show over the weekend and there are elements that I do agree with. However, as I have to keep reminding my self we have been spoilt over the years when it comes to Flying Legends. We have seen flying displays from some of the world rarest aircraft on our doorstep. We often take these aircraft and the men working on them for granted. Flying Legends allows us to show our appreciation for both man and machine. This year was the 16th that I have attended legends and it was filled with the same amount of excitement as previous years. Yes at times it appeared a little more sedate but after reflecting upon it this actually allowed time for you to absorb each individual act and to take in what you had seen. I do not buy into all the negativity that often accompanies this great show and I urge all who go not to look at the negatives but to concentrate on the many positives that come out of this one weekend. I would like to thank all the staff, pilots, engineers, commentators (yes I did say that!) and other members of staff who worked so hard to create this years show. Roll on 2013.
Most photographed historic aircraft of 2012?

Thanks for the comments guys.
John, I positioned myself at the M11 end of the field for some of Sundays display. I had seen it perform a couple of topsides at that end on the Saturday and knew id be able to attempt photographing at that end on Sunday.

Great pictures, is that an oil leak we can see on P9374s belly?

I agree with your sentiments. It’s very easy to take these shows for granted.
As to the show did Snafu do a different routine on Sunday which enabled you to get your topside shots?
You must have been very close to me on Saturday as couple of your shots, particularly the Lancaster, were almost the same as mine.
Glad you thought the trip was worthwhile. I merely had to come from Sussex and didn’t think that the weather forecast justified a second trip on Sunday.

Lovely – I really like some of those group shots.
You did well to get some top-sides with the sun on them, there wasn’t much in the way of useful sunshine there for a lot of the time!!
