With only 3 hours of display flying each day, I think legends is a must, regardless of content.
I used to attend Fighter Meets, then Legends from both sides of the fence (BBMF Dak in 2005, TFC volunteer 2005-11). My daughter was born in 2013 and she won’t be missing one.
You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone, but for me it’s the only aeroplane “fix” I get all year now.

The “Swissair” DC-3 and two Beech 18s put on quite a nice formation display,
As does the Storch with it’s near VTOL performance.

It doesn’t have to be big and noisy to be nice to watch.

I just had a look at the FL aircraft participation page, and note that sadly a few more aircraft have now withdrawn from this year’s Legends.

Albatros DV.a ZK-TGY
Morane 406 HB-RCF
Supermarine Spitfire VIIIc D-FEUR
F4U-5NL Corsair D-FCOR

A shame, but still a cracking line up!

Cheers

Paul

Spotted an F-86 half way across the North sea on FR24 at 1330-heading towards Clacton/North Essex. Not displaying a reg or call sign-is this on route to Duxford perhaps?.

No, just an inaccurate database. N1F used to be an F-86, but has been a Gulfstream 650 since October last year.

Believe me the Fury (The Centaurus one) is worth seeing on its own. I went in today and my goodness what a beauty it is, both sight and sounD. Such inspiration to have it in those colours. …

Rob

It used to be kept in “our” hangar at CVT when JB owned it, prior to its being exported. It is a real beauty isn’t it? I never thought we would see it again in the U.K., let alone in its superb new scheme. 🙂

Around 47 listed on the FLpage plus visiting aircraft not booked, great quality, I just do not understand how you can satisfy the moaners.Count your self lucky that you can attend such a gathering.

But then again I’m sure some will find cause to groan about it.

This will be the first time I’ve gone to Legends…and there’s no ‘surprise’ this year (unless i missed it of course which happens) and already several aircraft have been withdrawn, rather disappointing

Seafire has been out a while, US I think.

It landed at Cambridge, maybe to clear customs or for fuel

Not sure if it’s a wind up but there is a Hawker Tempest landing on the Duxford thread.
I say `wind up` as perhaps it’s a Fury in disguise?

Well for we Aussies we fly half way around the world to be there. Same for the Kiwis. Its a Mecca for warbird enthusiasts and long may it continue.

With this being the selection of aircraft (https://www.flyinglegends.com/aircraft.html), I think you certainly have to be jaded to not be excited to view the spectacle of all of those types, and the range and absolute rarity of many of them, gathered together in one place and flying.

What is the newly restored Spitfire?, or should I say which is it?

It was originally said to be the BHHH Spitfire V EP122.
