Flying Legends all-ticket for 2016

Flying Legends are pleased to confirm that tickets for the 2016 Airshow will be on sale mid January 2016.
Please be aware that tickets will only be available in advance, more news to follow.”

And just when they were trying to discourage people from flocking to the ‘naughty field’

What percentage of crowd line is available to the general public, and no extra cost ?

I think the issue of windbreaks has been resolved.

They need to enforce no windbreaks, tents, towels on sun beds blah blah….some of the families took 12ft of frontage with tents, breaks etc. Then stood up to take photos….also need to make the so called press enclosures smaller….as there are more toggies in there than aviation mags in the world.

Hi
I can understand the reason for the change.I for one was at Shoreham but every time I look at the map all I can see this less space at the front and are already thinking any picture taking going to be a waste of time. This it not time for Duxford to think about some raised grandstands.Maybe along the lines of the lorry based ones.

As much as I have loved the tank bank over the last 15 – 20 years, with it’s panoramic view of the airfield and very close (sometimes too close!) proximity to the ‘action’, I think we all knew that it could not continue post Shoreham.

I respect and accept the decision as inevitable and now look forward to finding a new spot to watch from, somewhere along the closer and now less cluttered crowd line in the middle of the site.

I’m guessing a spot on the raised area outside the entrance to the Land Warfare Hall will be the prize for those willing to camp outside the gates. Not sure I can be bothered with that!

The Heritage Flight is an exciting development, provided I can ignore the predictable comments from the inevitable monotonous voiced Brits in the crowd complaining about the US commentary and music.:eagerness:

Image 2 is more than the usual pdf – it shows how the crowd line has been moved forward 35m – red line/blue line.

Trimming the tank bank out and bringing forward parts of the crowd line might actually bring the display closer – this is certainly what the tweet suggests. As 11group says – where is the display line? Where was it before?

Aeros between 200 and 300kts need to be 30m further away than before – from 200m to 230m. If you can get 35m closer in the centre, and there is no need to steer away from the tank bank, there may be no net loss of proximity?

As promised we attach two maps for the public layout at the Flying Legends Airshow 2016.

Image one clearly identifies the crowd barriers which have been moved forwards approximately 35 meters to help eliminate the previously concave crowd-line.

Image two identifies the sterile areas at the Land Warfare Hall which is necessary to accommodate the displacement of the 230 meters display axis and has the effect of bringing the display and our crowd closer, whilst still meeting CAA crowd safety regulations.

We hope this more than compensates for the “loss” of the Land Warfare Hall end at Flying Legends 2016.

Map one is the now wellknown PDF at

Map two is this one:

This might increase ticket sales a bit.

Always with those negative vibes Moriaty.

Maybe someone has taken a good look at the May show, the regulation and discussed and got agreement for a novel solution, maybe that is what has happened, maybe it has taken a lot of behind the scenes work to get something that works and is within the regulations. Maybe we should be thankful they have done this so we have an airshow, Maybe.

Well said Sir, it’s astounding reading some posts here that the armchair critics seemingly believe TFC/DUX got out of bed one morning and decided to do something different on a whim as opposed to all the extremely hard work and discussion and planning done to organsise the show in the light of the changed circumstances.

For those who didn’t read the FL facebook page thoroughly :

“For safety reasons, visitors won’t be able to return to their cars in this area until after the flying display”, so you can collect chairs, frying pans etc but not during the flying. I guess (and do not know) same may apply to Landwarfare, tomorrow we may know. Many years ago we were grateful to see a Spitfire and or a Hurricane….

I haven’t got clue, we will have to wait for the details and plan, probably a good idea anyway when you think about it?

For those of us who park on the airfield side can anyone quantify how far the tank bank exclusion zone reaches?
People parking near the tank bank will not be able to return to their vehicles during the show. A real pain if you like to drop of purchases, or pick up food, chairs etc to
save lugging them around the show.

No tank bank? Always rather liked it, especially as I usually park that end and it gives a head start on the masses at the end of the show. Having said that, a couple of years ago whilst I was standing on the tank bank, a Mk.I Spit and the Gladiator did a curving approach to the grass and actually passed over me at no more than 100 feet. Never mentioned it before as I feared they might stop us standing there! It was great while it lasted though.

HI

Taken from Fighter collection facebook.

Flying Legends

6 mins ·
..

Important announcement from The Fighter Collection.

This year, air shows around the UK including the Flying Legends Air Show, have been subject to additional regulations regarding flying display permissions.

To enhance your visitor experience at this year’s Flying Legends Air Show, run by The Fighter Collection, we will be moving the crowdline forward in the central area of the museum site.

To achieve this increased capacity in the central viewing area, we have had to make some difficult decisions, which has ultimately led to the Land Warfare end of the site not being a permitted viewing area from Wednesday 6 July onwards and for the entire weekend of the Flying Legends Air Show.

There will be a small amount of sterile car parking which will be clearly designated. For safety reasons, visitors won’t be able to return to their cars in this area until after the flying display has concluded. Please assist us by complying with instructions from staff at the air show.

We hope that you’ll understand the reasons behind these changes and we trust you will have an enjoyable Flying Legends Air Show.

Maps of the public layout will be posted soon.

Apparently this Monday 20 June 2016 there is to an official announcement. And indeed possibly about the Tank Bank.

If nothing has changed and the Tank Bank is open as normal why an announcement? so assuming it is going to shut i hope that they will reconsider the placing of all the marquees etc along the eye line to allow people who would normally see the show from the tank bank to at least not have to pay extra for seating and keep the whole flight line clear.

I also hope for all those who have bought tickets in advance the weather is a damn sight better than it is at the moment.
