Perhaps a little early in the eyes of some, but I am thoroughly looking forward to the show this year and based on the list of participants already released, it’s going to be exceptionally good. Albatross DV – wonderful!

The Red Bull Air Force is added to the list.

I remember a Fouga Magister passed through his hands around 1984ish, and something in the back of my mind tells me Gnat, although I’m not so sure about that one.
Yes Stephen had a Fouga Magister. One taxied past us when I was strapping him into the Bearcat and he told me he’d had one. “Bloody noisy thing, I used to have one of those”.
I quite like them.

I seem to remember Eric Brown bemoaning German aircraft brakes. The Me-262 replica is closer to the original than I thought!

I guess if the guy that runs the show had an interest in jet warbirds he’d have some in his hangar.
He did have but you are probably not old enough to know. Somebody on here will remember?

Moonbeam McSwine added.
Miss Helen would be a nice 352nd FG pairing.

It’s called Flying Legends, not Classic Jets. I don’t recall seeing any jets at a Legends show.
Hi All,
Being as the show is a Warbird themed show surely the 262 fits into this category also the 262 is a legend in it’s own right….
Also as for the runway length could it not be based at Cambridge Airport or even Stansted ?
Geoff.

Expect the Me262 would only appear at Legends if it was already booked into display at another UK show, such as Fairford or Farnborough. That way some of the cost can be shared. But it would still a complicated transit flight from Fairford to display at Duxford and as stated Duxford probably does not have the preferred runway length.

Mention Legends and you lot whine like an early jet.
Pmsl, too true.
Would be great to see a 262 at Legends imo.
That Albatros is gorgeous!

MwuHa Ha Ha, Like it. :applause:
Just enjoy the event what ever turns up. Might be all we have left if CAA have their way.

If they can sign up a Mosquito, now THAT would be a headline act !
And it would at least justify the advance ticket policy.

Hi All,
I have not been to Legends for years but would have thought by now they would have been able to have the Me262 Replica come over from Germany, or would that be either just to costly in the first place or if they did manage to acquire it as a participant would it then blow most of their budget restricting the other participants ?Geoff.
There are also technical reasons to consider that are of importance. The 262 replica operated by Airbus/EADS has a non-original braking system which requires a very long runway due to its less effective capabilities. It is my understanding that at the present time Duxford would not be suitable for operations of this machine in it’s present technical fit. I also understand that the team would be reluctant to operate the aeroplane from a remote site such as Cambridge Airport.

The F15 back in 2007 was part of the USAF Heritage flight with the TF-51, P51 and P39 Airacobra. That is the only time a Jet aircraft has attended Flying Legends to my knowledge.

Okay so an F15 made up the formation of warbirds. Was this a re-creation of what is done in the states with a current military type and a collection of warbirds?

We have been through this before, but why cannot a 262 appear at the Flying Legends Airshow?
It is a flying legend or not?
Just because its a jet?
The show always has WW1 aircraft, between wars a/c and WW2 aircraft.
Guess what flew combat during WW2, yes the 262!
A Connie would be also be great, but none would be a C-69!

He’s right Merlin70, must have been 2006-2008 time.
