Even just for a season. It would be nice.

What ever happened to this one?
Here at Archangel in 1991 it was reported as one of three recovered from local marshland.

Nice photo, matches the Hurricane in G-ORDY’s post:

The plaque in front of it reads……
This particular aircraft was found in the area of so-called ‘Neva Patch’ in 2008. The fighter was piloted by Aleksandr Fedorovich Myasnikov (born on 09.09.1909), who fought at the Leningrad Front and was killed in the air combat on 11 September 1942. A.F. Myasnikov was born in Mashinsky area of Novgorod region, during his Air Force service had 315 combat missions and shot down 18 enemy planes. He was awarded with the Order of Lenin and two Orders of Red Banner.

Not an easy aircraft to photograph with that pillar in the way! It’s marked up as BN233. Was it at one time in RAF colours as AP740 (looks like the outline of a roundel under the wing in one shot)? Any idea if BN233 is its real identity?

Soviet colours

I more than most want to see some authentic Soviet schemes.

Hurricane IIB Trop AM274 is being completed and the plan is to have her flying in Soviet colours.

Hurricane IIB Trop Z5207 is being restored and is being finished in Finish colours which will also be unusual though 81Sqn/151Wing scheme would also have been nice and unusual.

Z5227 is still out there waiting to be restored. She was FE-53 with 81Sqn/151Wing.

Of course so many Ex Soviet P40’s have been restored but not one has flown in Soviet colours – not even for a single season which is a shame.

Plans were around to complete Greg Eppels? P40E 41-13570 as ’51’ in Soviet colours if even for a single season. Few years off yet though.

No, it would be nice.

regards

Also in the pipe-line, two Russian Spitfire PR Mk IV projects, BP923 in Sweden and BP926/G-PRIV in the UK.

Their turn will come, Spitfire restoration/recreation will not end in 2020. 🙂

What other non-flying ones are there (besides the temp paint job on the Omaka replica)?

Don’t TFC have RK858 sitting on their To Do list?

Not anymore.

Moved on to ARC/HFL a few years back IIRC.

Cheers

Not in the UK, but over in Washington state Hurricane AM274 is being finished by JNE in the colours it wore when shot down over the Rybachiy peninsular. Alot of the work is being done by just the one chap, it’s quite incredible.
