Flying Tigers

Hi Guys,

I was looking for something and came across these photos. They were taken at RAF Leachars during their annual Battle of Britain at Home Day 15-20 years ago.

The Norwegian F5 looks great in its Tiger camo. The Phantom from 74 Tiger Sqn is just about ready to lift off. Most of the weight is off the front undercarriage as the pilot pulls back on the stick. I like the way the afterburner flame bounces off the runway .

So how about a Tiger thread?

Show us your photos of Tiger marked aircraft.

The extended nose leg is about normal for weight off. The extending leg of the J and double extending of the K was only used for carrier launches.

Nice pics, Alex. Does the extended nosegear donate an ex-navy variant? IIRC, 74 Sqn inherited ex USN J79 engined carrier variants.

Would any ex-74 F4 ground or air crews care to elaborate?
