Boring, what do you mean as PMN says? The following reports list two negative and three positive reports.

Boring? In what way? It’s a 5-odd hour flight, of course it’s boring! 😀

I flew on them MAN-HER-MAN not long after they had started back in 2003, and they were rubbish. Outbound was delayed 3 hours and ended up on a Finnair B752 operating for Air Scandic operating for Flyjet. Went with no catering having been given no warning of this prior to boarding and to top it all off I ended up in one of those window seats on the B752 that doesn’t actually have a window.
On the return on FJEA there was no IFE in use because they didn’t have the appropriate licenses at that stage or something like that, not that that really bothers me, a window and my MP3 player is all I need. I’m sure it was slightly late again but it was approaching 5 years ago now so my memory is hazy.;) It was the outbound that sticks in my memory for being particularly poor.

I flew with Flyjet Manchester to Rhodes and back in summer 2006 and we had entertainment both ways. We flew on both of their aircraft (G-FJEB from MAN-RHO and G-FJEA from RHO-MAN) so they did have IFE on both of their aircraft. Why this was not used on your flight, I cannot tell you.
They were a decent airline. Seat pitch was pretty tight but that’s to be expected from a charter airline. I did do a trip report on here shortly after the flights so you may want to search for that.

Flyglobespan [GSM] dont have entertainment on our 738s, even on our Paphos flights [5hrs each way]. We dont get complaints.

It was a charter flight from Larnaca and it took 5 and 1/2 hours cos of headwind most boring flight i have ever been on.
Why couldn’t you take a book to read?

5 1/2 hours is far from long haul it just about qualifies as medium haul!

Shame them 757s are off to FEDEX i know that a certain UK Low cost scheduled carrier is looking for more.

The media need to stop picking on Flyjet, i see they failed to notice the rough 2 weeks that XL have just had with there aircraft, the 737 out of action with a hole in the side, OH-LBS the leased 757 seems to be having trouble aswell.

I think its G-FJEB what has had all the problems. It had a decent summer 06 and winter 06/07 but from May 2007 its had constant bad luck.
I roughly estimate that it has had at least 10 major tech delays resulting in 5 hour plus delays.
Great bunch of Crew just an awful shame that a small company can have such bad luck and alot of bad media coverage.

Bearing in mind its SSH thats delayed. Any slight delay on this rotation can cause issues. As its such a long flight and long day for the crew, a delay can cause havoc for crew hours.

Yes the Flyjet summer program of flights will end on the 31st October although from the 4th October the flights will no longer be operated with the Flyjet 757aircraft or crew and will be operated by another carrier, at the moment it has said to be 2x XL france A320s.
These aicraft will not go to Monarch they are going onwards to a contractor in America to convert them into freighters rumoured to be bought by Fedex.

SilverJet announced that it would be ceasing the Flyjet charter schedule with effect from 31st October 2007, somthing to do with that?

I thought they were going to FedEx? That’ll be a nice place for them to go.
By: LGKR - 26th May 2006 at 12:43
yeah pembo, they do seem to be doing okay.
I believe one of the few delays last week were down to a cabin crew member not showing or something like that, no technicals.

I don’t think Flyjet have had a good reputation in the past; its very hard if things go wrong and you only have a small fleet.
Things seem to be going well at Newcastle so far though. 🙂
