flyJet says
Flyjet has contracted to lease a Boeing 767-200ER aircraft to add to the Boeing 757-200 aircraft it currently operates. The aircraft is powered by General Electric CF6-80A2 engines and will be configured with 16 business and 215 economy class seats.
The aircraft, manufacturer’s serial number 23624, is currently undergoing a heavy maintenance check and cabin refurbishment before delivery in the coming autumn.
Shaun Dewey, director, said, “We are a flexible organisation and we have seen our business of providing capacity for tour operators and others growing satisfactorily. There has been growing interest for services requiring a larger aircraft with longer range so we have taken this step.”
Director Mike Hawkins said, “Introducing a new type of aircraft into a small airline like Flyjet is an exacting business and over the next few months we will be concluding development of the procedures and staff training to operate the aircraft to our standards.
Flyjet is a privately owned UK airline which started services in 2003 operating two Boeing 757-200 aircraft. It flies frequently from bases at Gatwick and Manchester to the Mediterranean, West Africa and India and also holds licences to operate transatlantic services.
