This topic reminds me of the Fw 189 which appears several times in the remarkable 1980s Russian war film “Come and See”. Always seen from below and making a sinister droning noise. I assume it was a model but maybe not! The film has been on British TV at least once and depicts – to shattering effect – the partisan war in what is now Belarus.

No doubt someone could quote the exact figures, but between the Canadian one, the Musee de l’Air in France and the recent one in America, haven’t three museum fires destroyed more historic aircraft – including some sole survivors – than flying accidents in the last 15-odd years?
Adrian
I would say no , plenty of aircraft have been destroyed in private hangar fires, its just they don’t get so much exposure as the big museum fires.

This could be risky but…
Re the FW 189 – I could have the wrong aircraft, but I think you can access its progess on its own website through links within the “other” magazine’s website…
’nuff said?

Which risk do you take? I certainly wouldn’t want to see the last one left in the world wrung out at zero feet, but on the other hand to see something as unusual as the “Frame” (Russian nickname, IIRC) in the air rather than just a stationary piece of tin…
Just my ha’pennorth…

Do you think it should fly? It’s the only one left in the world. Could be risky.
No questioning, it MUST fly!!!! 🙂

my understanding was that there was some form of deal with Flugwerk whereby Jim Pearce (I think he owns it?) does work for them and they inject cash into the UHU – did have a booklet produced by the group at home somewhere will try and dig it out

That’s the one. Thanks Adrian

Blohm und Voss Bv141, old bean

The aircraft that made Chris Wren (of “Oddentification” fame) allegedly comment that the Germans were now building his cartoons!
