Hi guys
The photo and text below are reproduced from Air Classics Vol.13, Nr.5 dated May 1977. The caption indicates that this was a Fw200C Condor fuselage, formerly of KG40, which was being used in the mid-1970s as a private hotel dining room near Arachon in Southwest France.

Does anybody have any additional details on this interesting use or know of its fate?
Cheers

Some additional information posted on the LEMB:
“This was the fuselage of Fw200C coded F8+BR found at Bordeaux Mérignac in 1944, and used for ground training for parachutists under the famous future Général Marcel Bigeard. The camp was located near the Dune du Pyla in Arcachon, in the park of Hotel Haïtza. The fuselage vanished some years later and one of its parts reused as a caravan! It was like Nessy for aviation enthusiasts for years in this area of France! Source : “Le Fana de l’aviation” n°298, August 1994.“
Lets hope that additional information isn’t as elusive as Nessy 🙂

It certainly seems to have seen better days and looks like it dropped a couple of Michelin stars too 🙂 I’d still be interested to learn how it came to be sat there in the first place and its subsequent fate.

amazing photo of what looks like a very lightweight stripped out fuselage or movie prop !
What with the sole support of 2 wooden trestles, apparent lack of glazing & belly skin/bomb doors and loose nose fabric it only looks fit for pigeons to dine inside……..
