LAST EDITED ON 03-09-01 AT 05:26 PM (GMT)[p]Built for short to medium flights the Fokker 100 is a very economic aircraft to run because of its low fuel consumption,it also has a rather long range. It has been popular with airlines such as BMI,KLM and US airways. It is definately one of my favourite aircraft, today (3/9/01)there was a BD fokker 100 diversion to GCI because of fog in jersey i was really excited at seeing this and as there has been no Fokker 100 or 70 at GCI for around 3 years.Anyway i was wondering what is your opinion on this aircraft and the Fokker 70?Shame fokker went bust in 1996.

RE: Fokker 100
Great plane. It was a pity Fokker went out of business. Nowadays it much more confortable that most new brand regional jets.

RE: Fokker 100
Hi Saab 2000,
I like the Fokker F100 although i am glad bmi are getting rid of the F70/F100 cos i am sick of seeing them operating the MME-LHR route :)(It`s supposed to be a 737,although i don`t mind it when an A320/1 operates a flight)

RE: Fokker 100
The F70 and F100 are my absolute favourite too. Perhaps its just nationalism speaking (yes, I am Dutch) but the Fokker plant should have never gone bust. Had DASA and the Dutch government supported Fokker for a little while longer, than Fokker would probably have been the main-player in the current RJ-frenzy.
Fortunately Fokker spotting ain’t all that hard in Holland. At Schiphol you can easily see F100 of KLM uk. Seeing other F70/F100 (BM, KLM Cityhopper) is also quite possible. And then there is Woensdrecht. The storage/maintenance fascility of old Fokkers. Mostly F28, but sometimes also F50/70/100. Recently I have even seen a Pelita F70 at Rotterdam Zestienhoven! It was on its way to Woensdrecht.
I have a question one of you might be able to answer. At the time Fokker was studying an enlarged version of the F100. The project, known as F130, was scrapped by DASA because they were busy developing their own 130-seater (the Fax). Does anyone know what happened with this plane? And does anyone have any pictures (artist impressions) of this plane?
Greetings

RE: Fokker 100
I flew on the Fokker 100 in July, EMA-PMI with bmi. On the way out I sat at the front, just behind the first class area. It was a great aircraft, very smooth and quiet, probably the best flight I’ve had.
The way back though I sat about half way down and it was a very different story. The aircraft is much louder from the middle back and god help anyone who sits on the last few rows.
Nice aircraft to look at, bmi base virtually their whole fleet at EMA but none are painted in the new colours yet :-(.
A few shots of the aircraft:
