Fokker D.VII-65

Does anyone know the construction numbers and / or original
registrations (French or British), for the three Fokker D.VII-65
biplane replicas built for The Blue Max by Rousseau Aviation?
The Irish regos were EI-APT / ‘PV.

Also, has anyone ever heard of the following WWI films:
“I Shot Down Rochthofen, I Think”
“Dubious Patriot”
Both used Currie Wot S.E.5a replicas.

We indead have one in our museum at Antwerp, but I don’t know of any other movies it starred in.

It went to Ireland after the Blue max and had some sort of accident there (bending the prop) and never flew in the USA.

Now it’s almost ready to fly again 😀

Here’s Scott Thompson’s well researched list of the Tallmantz aircraft from the period in question. It might help.

And, I’ve seen Zeppelin as well.
Once at my university’s “cheap film night”.
Rather impressive on a large screen, much less so on television.

Nope not listed, they didnt belong to Tallman there were on loan, possibly for Waldo Pepper as you can see them in the hangar scean near the end of the film!!!! Where are they now?? if they exist at all any more. Still registered to Lynn Garrison in Ireland.EI – ARH, EI-ARM

Both Pfalz DIII replica’s and one of the DVII’s are at Omaka. Of the other BM replica’s the other DVII’s are in antwerp and the USA respectivly, one of the DR!’s is with Rob Lamplough in the UK the other i know not where, anyone???
The two Mile’s built SE5’s were both lost in Accidents, Zeppelin and Von Richtoffen and Brown.

The Blue Max replicas have certainly been in a few movies….

I live in New Zealand and didn’t realise there so many of them here
(mostly interested in WW2 warbirds), a visit to Blenheim where
they seem to be displayed might be on the cards.

The FAC only brought 4 of the mini SE5’s, two remained in Ireland with Lynn Garrison. These were on loan to Frank Tallman at the time of his death and Lynn Garrison does not know what happened to them, anyone out there know what became of them or those that the FAC had?

Indeed, Zeppelin was released – I’ve seen it a handful of times. Not seen it in years, mind.

So “Zeppelin” was another film that was made with the BM replicas –
was it too ever finished and released?

Amazing how often these old girls come up on here! The three DVII’s are now with 1, the stampe museum in antwerp. 2, Peter Jackson,s collection in NZ ( although i dont thik it is registered to him). 3, is with a museum in the USA, name escapes me at the mo, on static as it was crashed and the fuselage badly bent!! When i get home i will try and dig ot more details.

” Shot down Richtofen I Think and “The Dudious Patriot” are one in the same film. This was a film made in Ireland using the BM a/c around the same time as “Darling Lili”, Zeppelin and “Von Richtoffen and Brown” The film starred Cliff Robertson and sadly was never finished. The producer of the film was killed in the helicopter , SE5 Mid air on the set of “Zeppelin” The film used all the BM A/C and the 6 7/8th SE5’s built for “Darling Lili” plus several Stampe,s and Tiger Moths. It was one of the Miles Built Full Size SE5’s that was lost in the mid air.
I spoke with Cliff Robertson last year trying to find out myself what had happened to the film.
I have some pictures of the filming as my father was involved in the flying sequences at the time and he wanted some picture for his forthcoming book!
