Fokker Triplane Noseover Virginia

I was at the Military Aviation Museums Flying Proms Yesterday evening, great display but one of the Triplanes nosed over during its taxi up to the crowd line. Damage doesn’t look too extensive, but I’m sure they will be able to get ger flying again. Kermit Weeks was staying in my hotel and we chatted a lot about his vision for fantasy of flight, spent a few hours at the bar in fact, he was drinking soda water as they hadn’t got any champagne! Not good for a hotel. Check out Ostynn the Ostrich his new book. He is off to Washington, with Ostynn on his shoulder. He is a genuine nice guy with hopes of bringing in more to the aviation community.
He confirmed he is paying for the Martin Mars to go to Oshkosh, it’s the red and white one not the Navy one. The Navy have just pulled on the deal to save it.

That was my take on it also. If it had been an original I would have been more concerned.

I’m assuming it’s a replica…..so why the huge concern?
No injuries, minimal damage….

Looking at the daily FAA accident/incident summary, hardly a week goes by where some vintage taildragger doesn’t have some sort of noseover or groundloop.

Yeah, and it was flying again by the next year as I recall.

Yes after a total strip of the fuselage 🙂

The USN Mars was due to go to the Navy but that’s stopped so it will sit on the slipway until another buyer is found. The Red an White one will be sponsored by Kermit to fly but he said the purchase cost was too high for him to justify, even though he would love to have it.

Thought they had already painted it. Off it goes to Pima then. That will be an intresting landing

What do you mean? The USN-marked Mars (painted last year, from memory) was going to Pensacola, not Pima.
