Folding wings on Naval Aircraft, how do they work?

Hi,

I have always been curious as to how structual intergrity is maintained on Naval Aircraft with folding wings. Essentially, some of these aircraft are flying at mach speeds with a split on their outer wing. Is some kind of overpressure system being used to ensure structual intergrity?
