This was a super short takeoff and landing concept test for a version of the C-130. The tests were supposed to help evaluate whether this platform would be good to rescue the hostages from Iran. Unfortunately since there was a mishap in the tests (Operation Credible Sport (aka Operation Honey Badger): an alternative platform and plan was used that also resulted in a mishap “Operation Eagle Claw” when they tried to implement it.
