For a change, a boat in the Solent…

I saw the Charles de Gaulle this evening…

(Tried to figure out whether this should go on the modern military but after getting a mauling for posting an image of a naval vessel complete with helicopter nearly a year ago I thought I would put it here and face your wrath here, instead. Do your worst!)

Conditions were, to my surprise (don’t know why it was a surprise though) awful. My 300mm lens, plus occasional use of its dedicated 1.4x converter, was nowhere near enough to bring it close, and the haze didn’t help either – the pix are better than mark 1 eyeball witnessed though!
I counted at least ten Super Etendards on deck – anyone see anything else around?
