This one, I spent 5 hours removing about 2,000+ very small vertical scratches. On reflection, I reckon it was rain drops!!!!! D’oh!

I’d have given anything to see a flying boat actually flying ! You’re right,she should have been preserved.I could weep when I think of the number of Sunderlands that were scrapped .

I remember seeing her flying around the Solent in summer 1952. We had a caravan at Lepe beach just around the corner from RAF CALSHOT. Also remember her appearance at Farnborough that year. Just a wonderful sight.
A great shame she was not preserved.

That is a Saunders-Roe SR45 Princess, young man. 😎

IIRC the Stbd side was painted in an airline livery. Dunno who’s though.

The Princess was designed to fulfil a requirement for a long-range flying boat for BOAC, so it would very likely have been the post-war BOAC livery.

I’ve just realised, all her pictures are of the Port side. IIRC the Stbd side was painted in an airline livery. Dunno who’s though.
