Hi all
Any news or developments on the controversial ‘for sale/swap’ section on the forum? I know many of us would find it very useful and helpful.
Cheers

Oh we can just moderate the buggers 😉
I would help moderate it with someone-if that helps but do i need some Karate Kid type training first? I only really have access to the web at work….
Can we put a disclaimer on that the vendor is not from a commercial organisation (ie professional dealer?)
Would that sort out the wrong uns?

I think it’d be a welcome addition, so long as it wasn’t abused by companies wanting free adverts. A “classified” section would be good. (Especially as I have a camera I want to sell at the moment 😉 )

To quote Basil Fawlty: “I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it” 😀
I did offer and it would be churlish to withdraw. Members only sub forum or seperate forum with separate Hysteric, Modern Militant and Air Zimbabwe used vomit bag sub forums (maybe a flight simulant one as well if the geeks moan too much).
It’ll never happen :diablo:

That’s a sensible idea Mark12.
Anyone out there itching to moderate it? I will do it if no-one else will, but someone with more spare time would probably be preferable 🙂
Could I please suggest that more a ‘Historic Wants and disposals’ sub-section would meet the greater need.
I believe the emphasis should be on providing a service for established ‘historics’ rather than a freebie for ‘Johnny one-post’ commercial outlets.
It will for sure need a moderator.

Thank you webmaster.
It certainly is an interesting idea.
I will bring it up at the next web meeting

For sale/trade
Elliott
why not just start a thread titled: “my list of surplus parts, pm/e-mail me for details”. Then it becomes an “off forum” topic between your individual e-mails/phone numbers.

OK Folks,
Boy has then been running for awhile the last time I put up the following link,
http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=5
Now here is a forum that has For Sale area and it works, we have never had any problems.

I agree with Mark12. Great idea but better in a sub-section.

Moderator hat off.
Excellent idea but not on the Historic forum proper please.
The risk is you will swamp it. One person’s joy is another persons ‘tat’.
A sub section ‘Historic for sale’ is the route forward in my view. Then those not interested will not be frustrated by NUMEROUS seductive thread titles which turn out to be a child’s blow-up Spitfire model or such like for sale.
Just look at ebay and compare it now with two years ago.
Feel free to PM the webmaster.

Yep go for it, there’s lots of stuff I want and there’s lots of stuff I have to trade!

Do it,…………….

Hi.
I think it’s a good idea as i have a lot of stuff i think people might want.
A few weeks ago i offered an aviation watch for sale, BUT some people
DIDN’T like it one bit. the offer, not the watch BTW, so i pulled the thread.

I agree,i would like to see it happen as long as it is’nt spammed by business,by members for members.

Do any moderators out there have a view? Would it be allowable if it were not for commercial gain? I have lots of odds and ends that are surplus to requirements….

Yes, should be nice. bw Roger
