After about 17 months of work my book about Major Finn Thorsager, “Gladiator” (title in short), is done. Through those months I’ve posted requests several times on this forum and I am grateful for all the help I have recieved by forum members. Especially thanks to Mark V for coming up with a very rare photo of a Spitfire flown by Finn Thorsager, Chris Percy for amazing images from Sutton Bridge, Herman Veltrop for giving me the permission to use one of his artwork pieces, and Tim Elkington for an unreleased photo of Kaj Birksted!
Anyway, some information about the book (I keep it in english as this is an english speaking forum, my apologies as the book will be published in Norwegian) ;
The book presents both my own writing and Major Finn Thorsagers own private memoars from the war and his career in SAS, hopefully nicely put togheter.
My research has been done through interviews with his family and veteran fighter pilots, huge chunks of books, and the 332 operation record book from 1941-1943.
The book has about 200 pages, it is not written as a simple research book where authors line up their work and tell it in a most boring language. It’s written with the idea in mind that younger generations will find it interesting to read. I’d rather take some small liberties (without re-writing history of course!) than compile a book people put down after 50 pages.
Larry Forresters book about Stanford Tuck, “Fly for your life”, has been one of many inspirations for my book, so has the late Thomas Nordseth-Tiller been with his amazing manuscript for “Max Manus”. No further comparison though! 😀

The book is planned for release in late August 2009. If all goes well, the book will be ready for purchase at the Rygge Airshow 22th of August.

Sorry for this terrible bump of a thread;
I have started a translation of the book into English. So far it looks pretty good to me. It’s an ongoing project and it might take the next 4-5 months. If anyone is interested in supporting it, following it and so on, please sign up at the mailing list and get some information about the work. Website is located here.
Translating it ain’t a big problem itself, the real problem lies in getting the language up to par. I have to seek outside help from English speaking natives to do such a thing. If anyone is interested to help out on that too, please get in touch.
If any mods wanna change the thread title to something more appropriate then do so if you want. 😀
