Might want to keep an eye on this going on the Hyperscale forum. This guy’s scratchbuilt Halifax project looks like a beauty 🙂

Phil,
Not only does the brake fluid make you confuse serial numbers but when you start seeing wet men in rubber suits then I really begin to worry :p

Hi Cees
Hi
One of the main points of concern here is the review which does not seem to relate to the kits that others have recieved. Over on ARC there are pics of some of the parts posted by an angry buyer. There sure are LOADS of areas on my model that are wrong and I am sure there will be a few more before I am finished but I am not asking you to pay$90 or £65 for it. Sadly they all keep me awake at night. Probably was a bit harsh and brett gave his opinion of HIS kit.
When I started out all I had was pics of the YAM Halifax downloaded on the sly at work as I had no computer. Thanks to yourself and others I know a LITTLE more. Although it always seems just after I have done that area. Aint it allways the way. What I have gathered I share. With free web space available it seems wrong not to. Many people shelling out this money on mail order are in for a shock. You and Ian and others know far more about Halibags than myself and theres only so many times I can bug you all for pics. Though now may be an oportune moment. Below is a link to some pics of the parts. Rest assured though that if I do produce some sets you can have them for all your great work in various lakes and down deep holes in fields etc. By the way happened upon a pic of two gents in rubber today Cees and Elliot. Wet and in rubber! Thought I was on a rather different sort of website for a minute. How long have I been calling it NA377? Must be that brake fluid I drank.

Hi
Not really p—ed of as the FM kit must rate as one of the worst kits ever released. If you get one open the box and bin the contents the box art is the only thing worth looking at. From the parts that I have seen they are all works of fiction bearing NO relation to reality or are so badly produced as to be scrap. take alook over on hyperscale and ARC for comments from people who have one. For example the canopy; Totally wrong in shape, moulding rubbish, rear section has two bracing bars that run INTERNALY depicted as frame bars on the outside so no fix for that. Decals wrong colour, tyres look as if they are both flat, Turret interior completly made up. This kit is a complete waste of time. Do not waste your money on it. Don’t think that it is even worth doing detail or update sets for it now. Shame one big missed opportunity.Cheers
Phil
Phil,
Don’t you think you are a bit harsh on it?
From what I have seen of the various reviews this is a pretty decent kit, and I can’t wait to get my hands on one soon.
There is no perfect kit and some people (including yourself 😉 take the hobby (if I may call it like that) too serious. There are some areas even in your fantastic model that are looking nothing like the real thing.
I agree on some points about the interior details but overall it looks quite good. I was surprised to read your comments and slagging off this kit only by looking at a review. If there are some issues with it then why not take action to correct these (such as the glazing over the FE-compartment) as you are building a 1/48 version as well. I am a kit builder as opposed to kit assemblers who seem to whine the loudest when a kit is reviewed. If there are any interior defects I will rectify them myself (or use your correction sets hint hint).
Oh, and Phil please note that the Halifax under restoration at Trenton is NA337 and not NA377. Just a minor detail 😎
Cheers

Hmm, an interesting and rather contrasting opinion there Phil. Thanks.
Brent Green, who runs Hyperscale, so really should have read other’s comments, wrote as if it was pretty good. I quote:
“The white plastic parts appear to be the best FM effort yet. Surface detail is by way of finely engraved panel lines and raised fabric detail. Unlike earlier kits, the surface of the plastic is quite smooth and the panel line detail is very consistent – impressive on such a big model”
“Resin detail is excellent. The engines are especially nice”
“FM’s clear vacformed parts have been pebbly in texture, but these parts are perfectly smooth with raised frame detail.”
He neglects to mention any problems with accuracy at all. I wonder how many will read his review (a man highly respected in the modelling world) and will rush out to buy the kit to find what you found. Not really fair, is it.
