yep you’re right about 1/18 scale cars, even the cheaper end stuff is good.. diecast a/c can be done well but at a price.. Diverse Images or George Taylor Models for example..

The diecasts could be quite special – I collect diecast 1/18 road and race cars, and some of them are absolutely stunningly detailed; the panel gaps, shutlines and seams are far better. Got a Porsche model on the way that’s got fabric seats, carpets, a suede steering wheel even!
Compared to these cars, the diecast aircraft available all look like toys.

What was somebody saying about panel lines you could dance in? 😉 😀
Don’t rate diecast aircraft models at all.
tell me about it… they’re ok if you accept them for what they are and dont take them too seriously.. model kits are OK if you’ve got ‘the knack’ but i still have memories of canopies glued to fingers and decals falling to bits in a saucer of water, however I may have another go at one… Neil.

nah mate – Corgi diecasts thats what you want… all the time you save on not having to build ’em leaves you plenty of time to spend moaning about choice of subjects and dodgy colour schemes!!! 😀 😉

Good news regarding the Hunter kit. Some of Revell’s recent offerings have been brilliant, and they’re very affordable too – easily my favourite brand.

I can hear him now…
“Spare a scheckel for an old ex-modeller…”
“Did you say EX-modeller”
“That’s right sir, 40 years, man and boy”
“What happened?”
“FlyPast Forum, sir. There I was, a modeller with a trade, and along comes FlyPast; “You’re cured mate”, not so much as a by-your-leave. Bloody do-gooders”
“There’s no pleasing some people”
“That’s just what FlyPast said sir!”I’ll get my coat…
Funny you should say that Mr Young
It happened almost exactly like that.
Now I have very expensive loft insulation.
(in the process of E-baying most of it)

Yes, if you replace the wings (wingtips and dogtooths wrong shape, wing in wrong place on fuselage, gear in wrong place on wing), canopy (wrong shape and size), nose (wrong shape), fuselage (too short), tailcone (wrong shape), gear doors (wrong shapes), it will eventually look like a Hunter!!
…but apart from that, what have the Romans ever done for us?

The Airfix FGA9 is not a bad kit, it’s an awful one!
With a bit of work, you can get decent results.
By: ...starfire - 7th February 2005 at 17:27
The markings are from the spare box.

And here the completed model-kit:
Nice looking. SW417, though? Do what?
By: danohagan - 7th February 2005 at 17:16
Very nice Hunter. I’ve built a couple of the Airfix FGA.9s recently. That’s not a bad kit, but this new one looks like it’ll have the edge in 1/72nd scale.
