For Those That Can't Go For A Flight In The Legendary Lancaster Bomber

This is the next best thing. Excellent video quality. If you have a slower connection, you might want to pause the video and let it load up for a bit.

Alan,
you have to take out a one year Bomber Crewm Membership. When Dad and I went we were also given a flight in the Beech 18 as well but not sure if they still do this or not. It is worth every penny and you have a choice offlying over the Niagara falls or the city of Toronto past the CN tower and along the shore.

Bomber Crew Membership – for $2,500.00 you may have the privilege of a one hour flight in the Lancaster (includes donation receipt for $1250*)./

I’m speechless, fantastic, tear in the eye stuff, thank you for sharing this great video!

Quite right. What a huge responsibility it must be to fly aircraft like this ?

Thanks for the link Peter.

I watched it in the wee small hours of this morning and thought it was a slideshow, even though I paused it for at least ten minutes before trying to view it (the audio played fine though).

I’ve just downloaded it using this free software:

http://wordrider.net/freerapid/

and the file is 171.35 mb. It plays fine once on my hard drive.

The downloader also works with Youtube etc and is a handy thing to have. I’ve had no problems when using it.

Watching the video makes you realise what a desperately poor airliner the Lancastrian must have been!

I’ve considered treating myself to one of these flights at some point. Can anyone advise the current cost, duration, availability, etc?

A certain well known North Yorkshire collector, currently residing in HMP, once told me he’d booked the transatlantic flight, accommodation etc, and turned up at the appointed hour on the right day only to find the Lanc “missing”.

What with serviceability, weather, crew availability etc, it must be a bit of a gamble for anyone travelling any distance?

Would have been better still without the constant music…
