Ok 🙂 , The Ya-22 prototype first flew on 22nd Feb 39, Originally intended as a high speed recon aircraft, 2 seat low-wing monoplane with wooden wings and a fuselage of mixed construction, Powered by 2 960-hp M-103 Vee engines, Retractable tailwheel and landing gear. Max speed about 329mph (530kph) at sea level, Ceiling 28,870 ft(8,800 m), YaK was then instructed to modify the design to serve as a short range bomber,B-22, Major Revisions to accommodation, armament, Fuel storage plus provision for an internal bomb bay, First flew on skis 20 feb 40, They say the prototype BB-22 had a max speed of 399mph(642kph), Also experimental variants R-12 Photo recon, BB-22 IS Long-range escort fighter, The BB-22 then became the Yak-2 at the end of 1940, At this time the design was further refined to become the Yak-4 to improve crew positions, better fields of view and armour protection, also for the fuel systems, external bomb racks aswell, bigger donks 2 Kilmov M-105s 1,050hp(783kW) Vee engines, Around 600 of both versions were built, Mostly Yak-4s, Not very successful in service, Many being lost in the early days of the German invasion, A number survived late into the war, Mainly as high-speed Liaison aircraft, Cheers, Tally Ho! Phil 😉

Looks like a cross between the Me-110 and a Mosquito. How far did these Yaks go in development?
