It may amuse readers to know that various continental armies (I cannot remember which ones but Austrian and German for sure)were issued a card warning them of the following:
“Never try to out drink, out swear or out fight the British soldier as you will lose”. hese cards were still being issued as late as the 1980’s. I know they existed as I’d heard a rumour about them and asked an Austrian soldier if it was true and was told “yes look I’ve got one”.

Issued by their army.
The Finns only ever gave us a run for our money if they stuck to vodka. Failed miserably when it came good old beer though. I have to admit that they certainly shifted some stuff when they were on the vodka. From what i’ve heard the Russians don’t manage too well with the beer either.
