Nice to see that they have separate VE/VJ day displays.

Ford Caproni

The Caproni Group actually owned Isotta Fraschini, but in the post-auto period. After the war they dabbled in cars again, in part to fill the gap created by the lack of aero business, but I forget the exact name of their brand.

But, in general, I would still prefer a Caproni aeroplane. I only need to chose the number of wings it should have – less than nine, but probably more than one. Same with regard to engines – less than four, but probably more than one.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps, it was a joke after all, but I can honestly say I have never missed not having any. Some people are suited to have them and others are not.

I regard children in the same way I regard Ferraris, they are noisy, smelly and expensive. I don’t want one, I don’t need one and if I really want to play with one I can probably borrow it.

When our daughter was born, I understood why my professor used to say “Each child is one less book you write”. He had no children and rewrote the history of fascism (and, incidentally, of 20th century Italy).

But when I made the first entry in my daughter’s logbook (60 days old!); when, at age 2, she said, precisely as we drove by the main gate of our local airfield, “Daddy, I want to fly”; and when she started saying than when she grows up she wants to be a pilot of aeroplanes and helicopters … I knew right there and then that my mentor was wrong.

And so are you, Melvin – at least on children. I do agree about Ferraris, though – I would much rather have a Caproni!

On the subject of SO’s and Psychology Degrees, I was helping out Ms JC with an assignment last night [1]. I do hope she checks it.. I’m sure that “Drug the buggers” is not an acceptable solution to “The Cognitive Psychologist’s Approach to Schizophrenia” 🙂

I bought a book on ‘Child Psychology’ once…it was just the right weight for hitting the children round the head. 🙂

Dez…as I said in my first post, I presume that the May dates will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of VE Day. I wasn’t working at Duxford for the 50th anniversary of VE Day, but apparently approximately 40,000 folks turned up…on the same day. Plus after the traffic “problems” in June this year, I guess the Museum is trying to avoid similar chaos next year (Methinks the IWM is dammed if it does, and damned if it doesn’t…have a two day show and get accused of having £ signs in their eyes, have a one day show and receive 100s of complaints over subsequent traffic chaos :D)

Perhaps a sensible response to the popularity of (and traffic chaos experienced at) the D-Day anniversay show this year?

I bought a book on the joy of sex. I ended up joyfully having my back untwisted at A&E.

(Yes Ian, the bleeding goat made a break for it).

That’s nothing, I bought a book on Feng Shui the other day, but I can’t decide where to put it.
