A lot of new military systems are often described with phrase “force multiplier”. Unfortunatelly always with conclusion, that because they are so effective, it is not necessary to buy it in a big numbers. Does it end like USAF will have three bombers, each with 10 000 JDAMs, 5000 cruise missiles and 1000 nuclear bombs on board with fly-away costs 30 bln. USD per aircraft??
My point is why not to build a bit less sophisticated and capable fighter/bomber/helicopter and buy it in bigger numbers. With having in mind latest UCAS development, isnt now the right time to pay attention to quantity once again? For example if I be in war, I would like to have 50 networked A-45 or A-47 much more than one B-2 with 324 small JDAMs.
