Very atmospheric! I was on a BA Trident, first flight out of Newcastle one morning that winter. Conditions were just like your photo. We slid up and down the runway a couple of times to melt the snow before finally taking off! Just before Christmas I was on a BA B747 from Hong Kong heading for Heathrow until we were told it was fogged in. We diverted to Amsterdam, same story and finally got into Charles de Gaulle with what seemed like every other airliner in Northern Europe. I’ll never forget circling over Paris in brilliant sunshine above the clouds and seeing the air full of other aircraft doing exactly the same thing!
It took us an hour next morning just to find our own aircraft, the airport was so packed!
