This forum couldn’t even get it together to buy the Shackleton cockpit a few years ago, and that was only about £700! in the end one forum member alone bought it (probably in shear exasperation!) so I doubt there will be a syndicate bid (unless of course it is relisted with a 99p start……..)

Looks like no bids so far. Mind you if every one on the forum paid a pound per post we would soon rack up a sizable bid. But then as Alan says about the grass, there would be arguments as to whose turn it would be to cut it, and on Sunday’s.

but keeping that grass cut would be such a chore

If you can afford the asking price, I’m sure a few sheep to do the job won’t break the bank.

Just think Kebabas on the hoof:D

One of the potential issues for a buyer is that many of the structures were built at a time when the MOD had “Crown Immunity” when means that they didn’t have to comply with building or fire safety regulations. An example of this is at the Kelvedon Hatch bunker where they had to cut an extra fire escape exit though the top level of the bunker before it could be opened up to the public.

A friend of mine used to own RAF Skendleby, when he decided to sell it the estate agents were looking for “high six figures”, in reality it sold for £70k. These sites are so specific in their design that the cost to adapt it for other uses is massive hence they tend to worth far less than you might think.

Did the museum there ever reopen? It was closed for H&S reasons the last time I passed by a couple of years back.
