I am happy to say that the Phoenix is rising we at the Military Aviation Museum are nearing completion of the watch tower and are looking for pictures of its interior during its service with either the RAF or the USAAF so that we can closely replicate the interior and and all help welcomed. You can contact me via email haguefamily@cox,net. Thanks and come visit.

Goxhill as an airfield is virtually gone now. The tower was saved and went to the USA and everything else went to hardcore for motorways and building sites here. Redevelopment is the word that is used a lot when destroying airfields. Ron Parker sadly is no longer with us either.

There is a lot of gen and photos on the Airfield Research Group’s forum Airfield Information Exchange. However, that site is down over Christmas whilst it is totally revamped. Watch out for the new website any time soon.

Goxhill tower is reborn

Moggy 🙁

Moggy, Goxhill is raising from the ashes at its new home The Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach Virginia. I am Don Hague (USN retired) and the lead researcher on this project for the museum. It should be finished in the late spring 2016. Every effort is being made to make it as was. At some point the paper I am developing will be available for purchase. I want to thank all the support I was provided from this and other forums as well as numerous museums in the UK. I am seeking any and all information regarding how the tower was used, room by room. I have all the info from the Paul Francis book as well as the book Goxhill at War.

Hi,

If you contact DoRIS at the RAF Museum at Hendon then they have a airfield plan for Goxhill on 1/2500 scale (641/45) and the dispersed sites (642/45).

A recent auction sold off the technical site and watch tower.

Somewhere on the net are also some 10 year old photos of the watch tower. Try a Google search.

Regards
Ross
