Former WOGB airframes

Has anyone got any info of the cache of former Warbirds of Great Britain airframes, and the activity around their hangar this year?

RE: Former WOGB airframes

Chris Bevan (I think) flew Doug’s P-38 at Biggin one year aswell, though I believe he rated it as a bit badly rigged! I think it’s been thoroughly rebuilt by the Evergeen museum which now owns it! I recall the SPits flying, the MkIX and the MkXVIII G-BRAF, painted silver, looking lovely, and emitting lots of flames when the throttle opened -what a sight! G-SPIT is still my favourite warbird!

RE: Former WOGB airframes

I may be wrong but the only B25 outside when I last visited was the former Aces High and Southend Air Museum machine. I don’t think it was part of the WOGB collection.
Flying A Services still have their Seafire under rebuild, but the nature of some of the repairs needed meant that the first flight schedule was delayed by a considerable period of time. I’m sure it will eventually be finished but wether anybody gets to see it fly is another matter.
Doug Arnold never let his aircraft fly that much at displays, I guess you were lucky to have caught the Spitfires at Biggin Hill, they would however appear from time to time, so whether had he still been alive we would have seen any more of then I don’t know, however at least they wouldn’t have spent the last 9 years in containers.

RE: Former WOGB airframes

It such a huge shame that the mass of aircraft owned by WofGB are no longer gracing the UK skies. I remember several years back, when two of the Spitfire’s made an appearance at one of the Biggin air fairs. I believe they have re named as Flying A Services now (I may be wrong). If this is the case, Flying A services had a Seafire under restoration to fly.If only the late Doug Arnold was still alive, (And the inspirational Charles Church for that matter)what a different picture the UK Warbird scene may have been.

There is (or was) a very poor looking B25 outside with nose art something like the ‘grim reaper'( i have a picture somewhere). The other B25, Aces High ‘Dolly’ is long gone.

They seem to be selling off a few airframes so I guessed there must be life in the hangar at North Weald. Is it true they have a B25 stored outside?
